There’s a rumours, Proton will sell their stake in Group Lotus but they denied the rumors. Proton has make statement that their relationship with Group Lotus is still good. They still waiting for Lotus new products to achieve their goals. The Lotus involvement in F1 as title sponnsor could create dynamic marketing and branding synergies.

For next season F1, the two Lotus brand, Team Lotus and Group Lotus want to change their team name. The Team Lotus that being owned by Malaysian tychoon, Tony Fernandes will change to Caterham related brand while Renaul will becoming the sole Lotus. F1 did not encouraged to change he name so it need to approved by sport’s F1 Commision.
Name changes aren’t something that should be encouraged,” agreed FOTA chairman Martin Whitmarsh.
“But if you’ve got two Lotus names in Formula One it strikes me that isn’t desirable, it’s not what people really need or want in the sport,” the McLaren boss told Reuters.

Yeah.. I think it’s better to change the name to diffirentiate among those team…

The City Car Concept was unveiled at last year’s Paris Auto Show. It seems as though Lotus will move ahead and produce the car in collaboration with Malaysian brand Proton. Lotus has announced that they will build a new city car for production and due in 2013. The car would be built by Proton and using hatchback concept into production.
The car called Ethos will be a hybrid only option for Lotis and expected to fitted with a 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol engine for longer distance driving. Lotus expects to sell between 1,500 and 1,800 a year, and should be equipped with a hybrid or electric powertrain.

Lotus Evora
Lotus will replace their sports car, Evora with new Elan at least in 2017 (still long way to go..) but they plan to replaced as early in 2012. Lotus is building their own V8 for their car after using Toyota’s engine. It is because most customer don’t want Lotus using the Toyota engine for their Lotus. If the plan success the new engine will be smaller than Toyota and it will solve packaging problems.
The engine will be 4 cylinder and effective to the V8 to Lotus Elise and Exige.

It is better for Lotus to build their own engine rather than depend on other’s manufacturer. They have their own researcher and I think it will success to build their own V8. Let’s wait and see.
