Fiat has open to talk to Volvo for a partner in developing small cars. After the collaboration with Ford end, Volvo has developed a new range of four cylinder engines and scalable platform for mid-large sized cars but no small car. Not just with Fiat, Volvo also had talks with others carmaker such as Mazda and Suzuki for their future alternative drivetrains.

New Volvo V40 have made their way online via a Polish magazine’s Facebook page. This five door hatchback is scheduled to revealed at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon next month. The design of Volvo V40 new model is mix with S60 series styling and a profile like crossover models such as the XC60 and XC90.
No detail about engine but the measure is 4,500 mm or about 177 inches in length and including three door to replace the C30 and a four door sedan model.

When I see the car on the picture, I’ve remember my former boss. He is using this Volvo 760 GLE before. Now, I just know that this car age almost same like me. The Volvo 760 was launched in February 1982 and become the brand that saved Volvo Car Corporation back then.
The history shown that Volvo have difficulties because of the oil crisis and problem to build the new Volvo 240. The company also have some financial problem but the Volvo 760 still can be produce. With the boxy design, the car has become success in the market.

Happy birthday to Volvo 760. It is one of tougher car I’ve ever ride (never drive it). Hm.. And I’ve never heard about my former boss after he’s retired… Hope he’s fine also..
A study from Volvo XC60‘s about collision avoidance systems to improve vehicle safety. The XC60 has a low speed collision avoidance system involved in 27 % fewer property damage accident than other mid sized luxury SUVs. Using the XC60 the statistic get 51% fewer bodily injury accidents. The car also 19% less likely than other Volvos to be involved in property damage accidents.
The City Safety system use an infrared laser sensor to spot possible accidents at speeds ranging from 2 – 19 mph. The system will automatically activates the brakes if the motorist failed to react in the time. But, it is still new, it couldn’t detect for speeds above 19 mph. From the survey, it show the system can effectively help distracted motorist who fail to notice an impending accident.
The study results already have the attention of U.S. safety regulators. David Strickland, administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said in a statement today that the agency is “deeply interested” in crash avoidance technology.
