Mercedes Benz will reveals their fitting inflatable rear passenger seatbelts to its vehicle. The safety belt called ‘Beltbag’ is due to go into production for Mercedes Benz luxury class model and will set to next generation Mercedes Benz S-Class.

The seatbelt airbags will be deployed when crash sensors detect a severe frontal impact, inflating the multilayered belt strap to nearly three times its normal width. It means better distribution of force and reduce the risk of injury to rear seat passenger.
Mercedes still worked intensely using virtual human models when testing the Belbag. Using the technology they will obtain detailed data on the biomechanical strain on occupants during a collision. The Beltbag only for back seat occupants citing the existing airbags and restraint system already included in its cars.
