PEKAN, June 14 (Bernama)Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which is celebrating its 10th year anniversary this year, is investing another RM100 million to upgrade its assembly plant in Pekan, Pahang over the next five years.

“The investment, which will begin this year, is in line with new model introductions and will be geared towards advancing the plant to accommodate these additions.

“At present, the plant assembles the coveted Mercedes-Benz S-Class, E-Class and C-Class passenger vehicles,” Vice President, Product Plant Sebastian Streuff told reporters visiting the plant here today.

Since 2004, the company has invested about RM250 million in the plant.

Located in the Automotive Park in Pekan, the plant is strategically located with infrastructure and suitable manufacturing partners such as DRB-Hicom and Suzuki nearby.

The company, which has 1,200 employees, has successfully established its plant to become the assembly hub for the Malaysian market.
