After Sepang, Putrajaya will begin to host auto sport event. Putrajaya are ready to host the second round of the world’s first ever fully electric car race, FIA Formula E Championship on Oct 18 next year.
The new electric single-seater cars FIA championship series will see 10 races scheduled in Beijing, Putrajaya, Rio de Janeiro, Punta Del Este, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Miami, Monte Carlo, Berlin and London, from September 2014 to June 2015.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the Formula E Race was timely as the electric car was the car of the future and represented the next generation of the vehicle for the global community. In his speech, he said
We hope by the time the race takes place, Putrajaya will be better known throughout the world. The car will be racing with all the government buildings in Putrajaya as the backdrop and that can only be good for Malaysia. Above all, next year is Visit Malaysia Year.
“We are so delighted that you consider Putrajaya be the second leg after Beijing, China. I’m sure there will be lots of excitement. I can’t wait to see this event. Do make yourself free on Oct 18 next year to support this event and show to the world that Malaysia will be in the forefront supporting development for the car of the future,”
Najib said that Malaysia was committed to become a country that would contribute towards global reduction of carbon emission.
