Ford Motor Co has planning to make more fuel efficient vehicles with its partner in China. CEO , Alan Mullaly said at Bloomberg interview on Sept 24
“As we move to more electrification, you’re going to see more hybrids, plug-in hybrids and all-electric” cars, Mulally, 66, said in a Bloomberg Television interview on Sept. 24 in Chongqing, China.
Ford may start produce electric car in China as competitor of rivals, General Motor (GM) and Daimler AG(DAI). A production depends on infrastructure and advances in battery technology.

FOrd Motor and SunPower has announced to partner about rooftop solar system for new Ford Focus EV. The programme called ‘Drive Green for Live’, Ford dealer could sale Ford Focus EV with discounted rooftop solar system to recharge their vehicle’ battery. On the rooftop, the solar technology enough to power about 1000 miles of travel per month. The cost of solar system should run about US10,000. Owners also can upgrade the system to generate their home electricity.
Ford will be release the EV Focus in the fourth quarter of this year (around September) with 5 other electric or hybrid electric models that will come in 2012.

It is great to see a partner between carmaker and solar manufacturer. It will cut some cost and make the price for EV car more reliable to buy. I hope Malaysian carmaker could collaborate with SunPower because they have big factory at Melaka. We need future innovation car too. Not just a standard car.

Ford Focus join the fully electric car (not hybrid) called the Ford Focus Electric. This first Ford’s electric car will be release on 2013 for North American and European market (Asia? Maybe 2-3 years after that).This electric car using 100 kW electric motor with 23kWh battery. Within this power it could produced 123 hp and 245 Nm torque.
This car could reach 136 kph top speed. A full recharge likely about 3-4 hour at home with the 240-volt charge station.
The safety and security featuring 6 airbags and electronic tranction control. This car also benefit with MyFord Touch infotainment system with the Mobile phone app (in US only).

It is good for Ford to release their own electric car. It is not just for environmet, it also a trend for next year user. I think electric car will make huge impact in market for next year. Let’s look for another car maker electric car after this.
