GM replace the 120-volt chargers in all Volt sold so far that about 9,500 car with a new unit featuring a more heat resistant cord and plug. It is because there’s many complaint about the charging cords overheated.

GM spokesman Randal Fox says the move, which GM does not consider a recall or a safety issue, was meant to “offer a more consistent charging experience.” Volt owners will be notified of the swap by letter in the next few weeks.

GM has temporary halted Volt production coz of slow sales and rumort of gas price worries..

Another car being recalled. Now, Chevrolet called their Captiva crossovers from 2011-2012 model because over fire risk. General Motors has been recall about 15,627 vehicle that issue stems from power steering fluid overheating under certain condition. 3,150 of the Captiva include in the recall were distributed as rental cars in the U.S. It’s been a tough year for Chevy after NHTSA found the cases of crash the Volt could spontaneously combust. The problem occured after coolant around the lithium ion battery leaked and crystallized on the battery that cause a short circuit.

Saab has filed for bankruptcy with the District Court in Vanersborg, Sweeden. The Board of Saab AUtomobile has decided that the company not have sufficient fund and filling bankruptcy. The question is who will take the Swedish carmaker? From the rumor, it will involved the car firm’s former owner, General Motors. GM still hold shares in Saab but reluctant to authorise because it was worried about their intellectual property.
Other than GM, there’s an interest from Chinese investor, Youngman but still in review.
