Perodua has plan to get into South Africa market by the end of this year or early next year. Perodua aims to sell 10,000-11,000 cars in markets like UK, Mauritius, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Fiji. Perodua has set RM50 million as capital expenditure(capex) this year to help increase their sales. The company also want to boost its car service and spare part business by setting up new sales and service centres. Perodua sold 180,000 cars in 2011 and aims to sell 188,000 unit this year and maintain its number one position.
In the first two months this year, Perodua sold 28,781 cars with service intake of 420,000 units. Spare parts sales for the period was RM34.2 million.

I think that’s good to get into South Africa market. There’s huge market in that country.
Malaysia national carmaker, Perodua are now ready to collaboration with DRB-Hicom Bhd, the new owner of Proton Holdings. Perodua managing director reiterated that they can collaborate but still against any kind of merge between this 2 brands.
“Since it will benefit both parties, we said okay. This was with the old Proton management. But after the recent developments, DRB-Hicom has not yet approached us.
“If there are opportunities for us to move from that suggestion, we are open for discussion.
“That would benefit both parties as well as the local automotive industry.But we are still against a merger,” he told Bernama in an interview.

Collaboration like this happen to other carmaker around the world. It can give win-win situation for our carmaker especially if they want to break into big international market. Good luck for them..
Perodua will reintroduce their used-car business that being operate two years ago. Managing director, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said ‘ the process of recruiting the right people both internally and externally’ to start the used-car operations to complement its new car business.
“Perodua currently does not have that (used-car business) expertise. Our expertise is more in the new car business. Hopefully we will be able to start off on a much better footing by the middle of this year,” he told SunBiz in an interview.
Perodua make first used car segment in August 2008 but ceased the operations two years later due to low volume sales. Nevertheless, he expects Perodua to turn a profit in the second phase of the business, when it evolves to become a full-fledged used-car dealer, buying and reselling vehicles not only from Perodua customers.

It ain’t easy for Perodua to participate in used car. I think it’s better for them to continue new and car part sales.
Perodua and Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) signed a RM225 million deal to supply the former with lubricant oil over the next five years.

The new contract dubbed the Perodua Genuine Oil agreement will see Perodua using Petronas’ SL/SM grade oil at all its service outlets nationwide worth RM45 million per annum for 5 years with immediate effect.
“This deal is indeed very special for us as it strengthens the already good relationship that we are enjoying with PDB and I believe that this agreement will usher in a new chapter of cooperation between both parties,” Perodua managing director, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said in his speech at the ceremony today.
The agreement was signed by Aminar and PDB’s managing director and chief executive officer Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Aminar added that the deal emphasizes Perodua’s confidence in the quality and reliability of PDB’s products and services.

With Petronas’ seven state-of-the-art blending facilities worldwide including Italy and two world-class research and development centres, PDB is committed to develop products of international quality for its customers.
At the signing ceremony, Amir said, “Over the past 30 years, PDB has successfully grown to become Malaysia’s second largest lubricant company in a very competitive market. We aim to be the number one in Malaysia by 2015 through effective marketing initiatives, backed by our technological expertise and strong support from our strategic global partnerships.”
“Today’s signing ceremony is certainly a step forward to reinforce PDB’s position as the Brand of 1st Choice,” he added.
PDB and Perodua has a long standing business partnership since 2003.
