Suzuki Australia has recalled their 11,000 Suzuki Swift hatchbacks to repair a potential defect with the car’s fuel filler pipe hose. The recall affects all current generation Swift model available in Australia between 1st February 2011 – 29th March 2012. More than 90,000 vehicles have been recalled to repair the defect.

The Suzuki Swift EV hybrid concept will be revealed for Tokyo Motor Show. The Japanese media suggest that this little hybrid electric hatch could hit market in 2013. It is almost same like Chevrolet Volt. In electric mode, Swift EV could drive around 30 km and in city driving it’s enough to get through a regular day. The petrol engine will start when the batteries begin to run low. The Swift EV Hybrid will be feature of petrol-powered sibling’s and adding with futuristic tweaks: LED lights front and back, covered grille and wheels and a revamped interior with two large digital secreen. More detail will be released on the Tokyo Motor Show next month.

Suzuki Motor Corp will abort it alliance with Volkswagen AG after 2 years collaboration. Suzuki will stop their partnership with German automaker because they found that it wold lose autonomy. Volkswagen owns nearly 20 percent of stake in Suzuki while Suzuki only holds about 1.5 percent of Volkswagen.
Meanwhile, VOlkswagen still keen to continue to the cooperation and not sell their share in SUzuki. The cooperation taht aimed to accelerate Suzuki’s development of ecological vehicles such as hybrids, electric cars and fuel cells not work. No project has been held for this 2 carmaker.The partnership with Volkswagen came after Suzuki lost its alliance with General Motors Co., which began in 1981. GM sold a 17 percent stake in Suzuki in 2006, and its remaining 3 percent stake in 2009.
Suzuki also said it never gained the sort of access it wanted to Volkswagen’s technology.

It is good for Suzuki to terminate their cooperation if they don’t have any special benefit. Maybe they must work with Toyota or Honda.. Or maybe they don’t like to work with competitor in some country?

The 2012 Suzuki Swift will come to Frankfurt next month after announcement by Suzuki that new Swift Sport will be feature at the Frankfurt autoshow. The SwiftSport is the three door harchback car sport that different design from standard Suzuki Swift. The specification not revealed yet but it is likely be a 1.6 litre M16A engine that could make 134 horsepower and 160 torque. There’s also a rumor that the car will use 6 speed transmission.
