Wow, Not very familiar of Volkswagen Up. The Volkswagen Up has won this year’s World Car of the Year Award (confuse, this year or last year??). The VW hatchback beat BMW 3 Series and Porsche 911. The award was announced at the New York motor show. The jurors concluded that the UP is the car that expect from citycar segment.
Other winners is ‘ Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque’ that win the World Car Design of the Year, Porsche 911 World Performance Car of the Year and the Mercedes Benz 250 CDI Blueefficiency World Green Car of the Year. The World Car of the Year awards voted by 64 journalists from 25 countries that been running for 8 years. Past winner include the Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Golf and Mazda 2.

New VW Beetle Cabriolet has been scooped virtually later this year. The model was previewed at the Detroit motor show at the VW E-Bugster concept. The new Beetle Cabrio keeps the folding soft top roof of the last generation model. The production version will get a similar front windscreen surround to the E-Bugster concept as well as the concept’s rear-end styling and high shoulder line.
The engine will feature a A 104bhp 1.2-litre TSI, a 1.4-litre TSI producing 158bhp and a 2.0-litre TSI with 197bhp will be the petrol variants. Diesel options will include a 104bhp 1.6-litre TDI BlueMotion Technology and a 138bhp 2.0-litre TD.

Volkswagen Cross Coupe concept will shown at the Tokyo motor show. The design of this vehicle are all likely future SUV. It features the bold new look almost similar of their second generation Tiguan. The VW Cross Coupe are new four seater, four wheel drive petrol-electric hybrid. It is officially a four door coupe and compact SUV that will compete with Range Rover Evoque.
The Cross Coupe is 4345mm in length, 1868mm in width and 1523mm in height. It also rides on a wheel base that is 2630mm. The space underneath the rear windows is put at 380 litres. The SUV will be powereed by 1.4 litre four cylinder turbocharged direct injection TSI petrol engine that could produce 148bhp and 155lb ft of torque. Energy for the electric motor is supplied by a battery mounted low down within the centre tunnel of the floorpan.
VW claim it could accelerate 0-62mph in just 7.0 second and the top speed is 124mph.

For those who are really love Volkswagen antique bus, there’s an opportunity to get the new 2012 Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus. But the Netherland people will get it first.
This Microbus hasn’t production for long time but there’s still a fan of this vehicle. The new Type 2 will be built in Brazil and the Dutch market could buy it. The Type 2 won’t be have many changed from their old design but it will come with more modern 1.4-liter inline four, and the “spare tire” is actually an air filter that obscures placement of a front-mounted radiator.
As I’ve mention above, this vehicle will be on Holland market only but who’s know next? Maybe it will come to European and maybe Asia.. Look at VW beetle, with new looking design it become popular now.. And I think the VW Type 2 also can become famous too..
